The recently enacted law 4548/2018 reformed the framework on Sociétés Anonymes, was the subject of Karatzas & Partners Law Firm seminar, which took place on July 19th at King George Hotel. At the opening greeting, Karatzas & Partners’ managing partner, Catherine Karatzas, pointed out the necessity to modernize the law on public limited companies.
Despite the occasional improvements and harmonisation with the European directives, the law required systematisation, improvement to become friendlier to Greek entrepreneurship and new technologies, Mrs Karatzas stressed. Mr Alexandros Metallinos, partner at the Karatzas & Partners and member of the Committee that drafted the new law, opened the seminar and referred to the general directions of the law, the share capital, the transactions with related parties, as well as the duties of the members of the Board of Directors.
Then, partner Mrs Christina Faitakis focused on the impact of the law on stocks, securities and bonds, as well as the minority rights. Finally Mrs Catherine Karatzas spoke about the amendments to the Board of Directors and their remuneration, the general meetings and the distribution of profits. After the presentations the participants had the opportunity to pose questions and exchange views.
